Notes on practice
KYOS began with discarded copper fragments, oxidised metal, and worn gear wheels gathered around Barberton workbenches. I was drawn to the sharp tension between calculated mechanical order and the relentless weathering caused by air, moisture, and chemical oxidation over time.
In these paintings, precise geometric symbols and antique dials sit alongside heavy oil paint and rusted metal patinas. The damaged surface uncovers underlying layers, converting physical destruction into a deliberate visual record that retains its own internal quiet mystery.

Acquisitions and studio inquiries
Original canvases from the KYOS series are available for private collections, museum acquisitions, and curator inquiries. Studio visits in Barberton are arranged by appointment.
